....Three Feet From Gold... Poem by Negus Iconel

....Three Feet From Gold...

He stambled and restricted himself from achieving
He thought he didn't think it all through and all what was taught was deceiving
Life couldn't be altruistic. It did the opposite of, 'giving more than receiving'
He soliloquized, 'why do I even continue to do this when gains are nothing to what I'm losing? '

'All this for gold and nothing in return except risking my life? '
'All shadows have got fears when light arrives so they disappear'
All love is fun, not until you're broken from a love affair
'all these are lies'.. until the young grow to find the truth hidden in their life

Just some few steps forward, he retracted
That was just a few more moments and he got himself defeated
All alone, afraid. Not even a hand at the receiving end
Drifted away from his goal. 'There's nothing in fame without money being included'

It was all effort, hoped it yields in golds, yes money and tender
His obsession, just as King Midas would want to change everything to his desire....
.....Just by stretching and touching with his finger
But Remember, desires may crash when there's much pain and heartbreaks to suffer

Got to the point that he had nothing in hopes and dreams
'Giving up' became the best among his ornaments
He walked away from his only obsession
Defeat and failure became his only possession
He never knew his tiptoeing was just to the glory
...only three feet from getting his gold, his dreamed victory...
