Three Nemesis Poem by Robert R. Railey

Three Nemesis

Three Nemesis

Life would certainly be a lot less interesting without at least one of these guys, but why do they have to come in threes? For as old Ben Franklin once said, "Three can be friends if two of them are dead"
Unfortunately, though, once we have learned how to handle even one of our adversaries we are usually faced with two more
For as we all know, one is definitely not easy to cope with, but when you add two more, you might have to come up with a plan of vengeance for any one of the three
Retribution against any one of them would not be out of the question; but if I am forced to get along with all three of them, then we'll definitely need a blessing
Although a gang of good ole boys, such as superheroes and the like, could put them in their proper places
Yet what will most likely happen is that I'll ask them out to dinner and then hope that they end up hating one another or any one of the three
As luck would have it, though, they seemed to really like each other; but the worst part of it was that they enjoyed telling stories on me
And so now it appears that we are four the musketeers and we are truly the best of friends; but what's more likely is that we are actually an enemy plus three
Thankfully, though, some time has now passed and I've learned to swallow my pride; and so now I think I'll just bide my time but then pray for a natural disaster
Where are the floods and tornados when we need them, I asked? And please forgive me for thinking bad thoughts but it's beginning to look as if there's no other way, I guess I'll have to abort them
Though it's sad to say, it appears that my hopes for peace have been washed asunder and I'm adrift in the river of acceptance; but then suddenly a new plan emerged from my mind and it was almost Machiavellian, I'll simply pretend to like them
