Through Stripes And Spots Poem by charlotte harris

Through Stripes And Spots

left alone,
But I don't care,
Because my friends,
Are all already there.
Giving up is not an option,
Music always knows best,
Friends two steps ahead,
Possibly needing rest.
But that can wait,
Because I have to stay,
Just for a little while,
To see how to finish my day.
I want to figure out the world,
But lets start with my friends,
Because my mind was full of doubt,
But i knew that had to end.
So I asked weird questions,
You'd answer then leave,
But that was ok,
Because I knew the cards up your sleeve.
So sorry and thanks,
And I mean that a lot,
You were there when I needed you,
Through stripes and through spots.

Is the beginning a typo? (eft alone) because an eft is another name for an immature newt and that somehow seems odd.
