Thunder In The Pool Poem by Ellie Foe

Thunder In The Pool

All the kids came out to play
In the sparkling blue waters

We got our towels and hoped
The scorching heat would be extinguished

We put our dark sunglasses on
So our eyes could forget about the bright star.

We stretched our goggles on
And dipped our toes in the cold rescue.

We glance up at the sky for once
to see ominous clouds invade our paradise.

The happy buzz of kids ceased
The seconds count by and we watch in fear.

If we don't move it might not-
A clap reverberates above me.

The whistle sounds.
And I stand up to dry my toes.

Some stay to wait.
I go home.

The last day of summer.
I get one last look at the crystal pool.
