Thwarted By Ignorance Poem by Jean Renwick

Thwarted By Ignorance

Thwarted by ignorance
only now do we see what might have been;
when the time has passed for us.
Regret presses heavy on our hearts,
though what we shared with one another
hardly warrants such fierce emotions –
Long lustful looks
and a kiss that seared our souls.
But for a moment we cling to it;
this memory of anticipation
and the projected feelings of fulfilment.
