Thy Lids, Thy Shields Poem by JOBY JOHN

Thy Lids, Thy Shields

"You be adulterous never, "
you heard and told—
again, again, and again.

Beware your open doors,
the ones that turn vision to lust.
Shut them
when lust draws near.

For they bring your grave closer,
though never your soul.
Shut them always,
let no enemy enter.

Thy lids,
thy shields.
