Ticking Poem by Jean Bernard Parr

Ticking

I bought a watch in Argos
On the eve of election day
People stood with tickets
Warmed by holiday schemes
and tugged at by children
with their crooked fairy wings
in a treasure chest of dreams

It hasn't started ticking yet
So don't you count today
Unseen sun and moon
I bought a watch to start
This angry world anew
Tiring of grey government
And things you cannot do
