Tiger In The Wilderness Poem by Natalie Clyne

Tiger In The Wilderness

Sharp strong eyes watching me
But from where I do not know
I can feel their intense stare
Predicting my next move

Out in the wilderness
In the open plain
The hot sun beating down
My position increasing in danger

The predator stalking me
Camouflaged perfectly
While I stand all alone
Completely vulnerable to any attack

Its body burnt amber
Black markings running down
A bone crushing jaw
Two eyes of wisdom

Myself a mere human
A peasant to this king
Here is the final moment
With the predator and the prey

It strikes
It stops
It looks at its prey
And gives it the chance to fight another day.
