Tightly Wound Thread Poem by chantel weston

Tightly Wound Thread

A tightly wound thread
wraped around my neck
slowly restricting mt breath
slowly contracting.

At the threads ends
a reminder of the days
that meant something...
that did not hurt to be.

Pulling the strain mounts
it tightens too much, so much
nothing to help the pain ease
short, clipped breaths cease.

tightly wound thread
snug around my neck
at its braided ends
a gift from you hangs

a small gift made of
heart and soul...
dripping with love
hanging from a thread.

meaning nothing
short of forever,
every star in the sky,
every sand grain.

the tightly wound thread
pulled relentlessly
presantly causing
the ending of me.

the thread tied me
close to you
would not let me
brake away from you.

when your heart stopped
it refused
to let mine
carry on.
