I was blessed the day I met you
God smiled on me and gave me a friend
Someone special to make my life bright
My thanks for you will never end

My days were often dark and gloomy
Full of despair and darkness too
I needed something to bring the light
God gave it to me, He gave me you

Memories come, so strong and sure
Times of joy and times of wonder
Times when everything was so right
Times when the darkness broke asunder

Although those times are now long past
I thank God for the chance He gave me
To have you to help me win my fight
To have you there to help me see

That life is not all full of bad
There's beauty there, you're the proof
With you there to help give me sight
I knew I didn't have to be so aloof

I thank you friend for those times of joy
For showing me how great it could be
For pushing back the dark of night
For being there, for loving me

And though I miss you something fierce
I always have you here inside my heart
Wrapped up in love, shining bright
Deep in there we will never part
