To Incise You, All Alive Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

To Incise You, All Alive

only the trace of his lips
on his favorite coffee mug
is what’s left of him
yet he knows, he always does
smell the fear that stirs
underneath your satin gown
as you lay in bed at night
wishing for the shadows
that prance on the ceilings
to fall and land on your body
gently whimpering, pleading
for the stars to come save you
as the moon prepares itself
with knife, blood and a grin
to incise you, all alive
