To My Lost Love Poem by Melissa Fleming

To My Lost Love

For all those times we created and shared,
for all those things we did and what did I do;
I tossed you and all those memories away
this I am sorry for.

I am sorry for breaking your heart,
I was the one who said it was okay,
it was okay to trust me with your heart.

Our hearts use to beat as one but something
happened and our hearts went off track.
We use to have a raging fire but that fire went out
and the ashes got blown away.

We always said don’t let it end and
that we were holding on to heaven but,
this is ending also heaven seems
too far away to reach it.

We sit at two different places wondering the same thing.
Is this real? Are we really through? Is this the last time?
Apparently so- this is a serious matter that I never thought would
happen.
I use to think that you were a book
that I would love to read. The more and
more I read… the more I wanted
you became a drug that I needed
when I got to the end of the book
it had a sad ending that I didn't want to happen
the ending of the book is now and
I wish I was wrong.
I knew this was coming but it was the right thing to do.

All those times we argued and you threatened to leave
are coming to mind now. All the nights I worried and
wanted to know what would happen… its coming to mind now
you treated me bad sometimes but at the end of the day I knew…
I knew that at one point you did love and you did want this
but as time went on that faded. That longing for one another,
that feeling of never being alone. I thought I found my future but I
was wrong
Our hearts crumbled that day and tears was shed
after everything we did, shard, and said every moment was worth it
every heartbeat, every dime.

You will always be remembered in my heart and mind- you were that one guy
who turned my world upside down
the one guy who loved and lost,
the one guy who opened my eyes,
the one guy who made my life easier,
the one guy who stole my heart,
the one guy who made a smile,
the one gut who had that one seat
with the view,
the one guy who asked me to prom,
the one guy who gave me flowers,
the one guy…
the one guy who I loved with my heart….

I will not say good bye
till the day I die
but I will tell you later
this won’t be out last… I know there is more to come
