To Venture Through Hell Poem by Katherine H. Belle

To Venture Through Hell

I look up at the darkening sky
and say my sorrow filled goodbyes
Leaving for a place you do not know
Beneath the ice and hardened snow.

To venture still, past the trembling earth.
to a place where evil gives its birth
to hell hounds and their minions, fair.
where fire licks the sulfurous air.

But fear not my child, I shall rise again
To the place where it all began.
Fearless, strong, dripping sweat still hot.
I'll be strong enough to need you not.
