Today I Can’t Write Poetry
today
i can’t write poetry.
with the way
things are… tell me
why i can no longer
believe in words people use,
even enough
for a complete sentence,
to make some sense.
and if i do write
they’ll accuse me of obscurity.
they never look down
the river to see
how muddy it is that
we can’t even take a glimpse
of their footprints anymore.
