Tongue Tied Poem by Mary Champion

Tongue Tied

There's nowhere to go that's worth the journey,
cos I've been looking for you for so long.
And you? tell me, are you looking for me?
or have I been reading the signals wrong?
Too shy to tell you what it is in my heart,
those wasted hours have lengthened to years.
My mind's in a whirl don't know where to start,
burbling nonsense to cover my fears.
Only you have the power to save me.
Talk to me, please, for I so love your voice.
I can tell you don't know how to take me.
I know, you aren't fooled by my cunning ploys.
And now you say it's time to say goodbye -
stuff you must do - or was that a white lie?
