Tony's Sonnet Poem by Elia Michael

Tony's Sonnet

Do you remember how we used to play
In cobbled streets where cars were seldom seen?
On sunny days we'd get the train away
And swap the urban grey for country green.
We went to places like the River Avon
Where swans used to glide so nobly along
The flowing water. Tranquil, scenic haven
Where nameless birds would offer us a song.
The days when you and I were young and free
Are lost forever - I wonder if you
Wherever you may be, remember me,
As I remember you, a special you.

They say that time can take away this grief,
But time has made a lie of this belief.
