Too Late Poem by William Deutscher

Too Late

Dream bouncing back in a reflex of night
Widespread kiss like a drag of starlight.
Love-soaked cry to a girl gone away
Rushing gray in a shot of day.
But I'm still hoping for a happy ending,
Crystal reflections in the mirror glass,
Searching for clues in the tall wet grass.
Life topping off as a shadow to the clock
Blue time flooded with throwaway talk.
