Touch Poem by Maurice Rowlands

Touch

Steal a rocket ship
And fly through space
Through the asteroid belts
Past what is known to man
And maybe you will touch
This frozen heart

What are you afraid of
Just reach out your hand
And touch

Crawl through the desert
Hey boy take a drink
At the oasis
Keep crawling
Until you touch
This embalmed heart

What are you afraid of
Just reach out your hand
And touch

Find your way
Through the enchanted forest
Blinded by darkness
I don’t have the eyes that you do
Some pathways lead to me
Some don’t

What are you afraid of
Just reach out your hand
And touch

Enter the labyrinth
When you are lost within its walls
Look up to the stars
They will guide you
To where I am
Through the maze

Don’t be amazed
Don't be fazed
Just open your hands
I will be there
To touch you
One shadow to another

What are you afraid of
Just reach out your hand
And touch

Maybe I’m a constellation
That you must find
When you look up
Into the night sky
And wonder why
I'm way up there

What are you afraid of
I love you
Just reach out your hand
And touch
