Tranquillity Poem by Mary Champion

Tranquillity

Avon and Kennet -
in a horse-drawn canal boat.
When the chatter stops
the only sound we can hear
is the clip clop of the hooves.

Gliding soundlessly -
there is no engine throbbing -
just serenity.
Surely this must be the peace
that passeth understanding.
