Transcending Descention Poem by Ken Barrett

Transcending Descention

This doleful long day with no end in sight
Has caused me to submit to defeat
As I decend further into this blight
I regress and begin to retreat

As I hide away from my sole intent
I lose sight of knowing what is true
Equanimity begins its descent
Contorting my perceptual view

All memories of myself fade to black
Forgetting the person I once was
I fall into an anxious attack
Unknowing the melancholy cause

This dismal day will soon come to an end
Happier days I hope to transcend
