Transitions Poem by Ogolla Enock

Transitions

To do the best you can,
to soar heights like eagles
and to fight battles like Knights,
but only those you can win
Without much resistance and scars,
This is the philosophy of average lives.
Thus we've lived safe and secure
Never challenged. Never fulfilled.

With increased sagacity and tenacity,
take judicious risks and kiss the impossible.
Outdo the best you have ever done.
Refuse inclination for easy tasks.
By all means, provided it's right, always
be ready to do what needs to be done.

Seek not for some old footsteps to follow,
Instead, clasp your hand on God's hand
and be willing to tread the unknown
And leave behind new trails for others to follow.

Perhaps you'll fail,
Well, well, what's that?
Failure like victory, is insatiable,
But it's the fear of it that renders one
stagnant and incompetent.
Do not cast your lot with such.

Up or down, proceed with confidence
and seek nothing but glories-
not vain glories for selfish gain
but blessed glories for the good of others.
As for peace and ease,
Save that for your last breath into eternity.

Don't dwell too long on plans and ideas.
Lest you become a dreamer or a critic
who for having not been in the arena
lacks the practical experience
Needed to get things done.

Plan like a thinker, but act instantly.
Dare and do, for there is no other way
to attain a fulfilling life, but to dare and do
Not just the best you can but the impossible.
That is the philosophy of God and His Spartans,
And that is precisely what is expected of you.

But it's still you who must
choose how you'll live your life,
Either unperturbed, but unfulfilled
Or daringly and fulfilling?
It's all up to you!
It's all up to you!
