Transported Poem by Mary Champion

Transported

When hard times arrived
and his family were hungry,
the boy stole a hen.

Bitter betrayal!
The authorities were informed.
His future seemed bleak.

Transported for life
to a far distant continent,
he sailed without hope.

But when he arrived
and served his term, he lost his heart
to the Blue Mountains.
