Trip To The Moon Poem by Olusegun Akanbi

Trip To The Moon

Rating: 4.3

Trip to the moon.
We hope to leave very soon
We packed our bags
And into our spaceship we zoom
Up into the sky
And into deep space
We have never seen such a beautiful place
So strange and grotesque
As I write, I use my control board as my desk
As we fly over this lunar planet
Spinning round and round
It is zero gravity
So everything is up side down
So rocky and creepy and dry
We saw no green men or monkeyand not even a fly
But we wish to go once again before we die
An adventure to the moon was fun
I can not deny
We could hear our voices echo
Due to the emptiness that consumes
And it is always dark
We do not know if it is morning or night or noon
Riding fast in our lunar rovers in that rugged terrain
Dangerous games that will make you go insane
As anxiety consumes us on our return to earth
Our trip to the moon was one we will never forget
And that was my trip to the moon

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A man takes a trip to the moon with his wife and family on their private spaceship leaving all the problems of thisworld behind. This poem is full of metaphors and it states that the earth is full of problems but the moon is peaceful but dry.The eath is burstling and dynamic but the moon is stagnant and the same.
