True Heart Poem by Lilyann Monahan

True Heart

Rating: 4.8

Why is this love so deep within, it wraps around my heart so true.
Never will it disappear, it holds on to me like glue.
He made my soul dance in glee, I ached to feel him near.
I couldn't have him close enough, all he did was just so dear.
Even though I didn't agree, with the way he taught me love,
I'll thank the heavens, until the end, and always God above.
But why did God take away from me, the wonder of my heart?
I wasn't finished loving him, in fact I didn't start.
To feel another in your soul, although your eyes are shut,
pierces your heart with such might, with such a painful cut.
I wanted to say 'thank you' again, for your poetry that mended,
all my years of agony, now our time on earth has ended.
I must go on, even though you died, my half misses our whole.
with me the light, and you the dark, love has taken its toll.
