True Life - True Love Poem by Adele Bercich

True Life - True Love

Sex, Drink and Rock n Roll
This way of life soon took its toll
Left me empty lost and cold
Before my time, I'm feeling old

Looked like fun to go out drinking
In reality I was sinking
Why did all my friends look happy?
Could they be wearing masks like me?

Is there more to life than this?
Could I have a life of bliss?
Is there something to this Christ?
What would happen if He ruled my life?

I soon found out He's no killjoy
Fun was not to be destroyed
Instead He came to rebuild
So we might have life to the full

True intimacy I now know and love
Forgiveness raining from above
Pure as a dove and soaring free
I'm cleaned and now He's using me

His love I feel compelled to share
With everyone, whoever's near
His purpose is not to cause us strife
He loves us, heck he gave us life

His plan for us - to truly live
For this to happen He had to give
His one and only precious Son
Pure, perfect and sinless one

All He asks us in return
That we release our will and turn
Towards His plan for our life
So the church is worthy to be Christ's wife

If none of this is making sense
Or, God forbid, causes offence
Please don't hesitate to talk
I'll happily explain my walk

Lord please break down my wall of pride
My heart to you I open wide
Please clean away the dust and dirt
And flow through me to heal their hurt
