Truth Ignored Poem by Jonathan H. Scott

Truth Ignored

The force of Truth exists amidst the stars,
Where galaxies and all are merged as one.
That which is false is what She ever bars;
What one believes of Truth will be undone.

This fact remains despite one's lack of care.
Its timelessness includes all Time itself.
What truly matters vanishes in air,
While grabbing at some useless thing of wealth.

How sad are they who sell both heart and soul
By taking measure with some shortened rule;
Misguided, though their faith they do extol,
Will trade it all for some small, shiny jewel.

To know oneself, therein the challenge lies.
That we are stardust in the cosmic realm
Is nature's law set forth before our eyes—
Believe it not! for it will overwhelm.

And, so, some counterfeit exchange is made—
Allowing us to bargain all the day.
Despite our self-deluded, grand charade,
To stardust we return in every way.

Until that time, you sell yourself— for what?
To play at life as though it is pretend?
This, too, is Truth that you cannot rebut:
You'll trade all shred of virtue in the end.
