Tu-Toie? Poem by Roger Gerald Hicks

Tu-Toie?

Thou:
"Do you know those big crows
those big black birds? " She asked.
I nodded held her hand lightly
like the string of a kite

"The cat brought me one once,
Nearly dead, I nursed it.
You know, it was so big, but…."
She took my camera lens cover
held it on her extended palm,
"It was this light, it had almost
no weight."

Me:
If you tug on a kite string
the kite dives;
if you let it go, the kite
falls, tail proceeding it.

If you tug a kite string
just tightly enough
the kite rides high
on the elements necessary
for it's life.

Tu-toi:
The nexus of love
is a caress given
at just the right instant
to make the heart leap.
