Two Tries [for A Gun] Poem by Curtis Goodnight

Two Tries [for A Gun]

Rating: 3.5

Just another day in Paradise
And why couldn't my mind
get any traction?
we slid into the kitchen
"first things first"
The fire has been balky this winter
Two tries for a blaze
Two tries for a gun
"If a thing is worth doing
it is worth doing well"
Not the.22
Not the.25
Nor the.270
Yes
The.35
Remington.
Lever action.
Customized load.

There I was on my high horse
there i wasn't.
I expected more echo
I heard more whine
One less cup in my cupboard
Two more rounds in my hand.
