Ugly Damned Things [after Ellen P. Allerton's 'beautiful Things'] Poem by Shane Markie

Ugly Damned Things [after Ellen P. Allerton's 'beautiful Things']

The ugliest faces are ones who wear
Wholehearted hypocrisy painted there.
The ugliiest eyes are those that betray
The harshest horror humanity conveys:

Words most beguiling from the ugliest lips
Darkly discouraging Freudian slips
Crawling like maggots in a child's ear
Tomorrow's terror today arriving here.

Calloused, gnarled hands morst ugly often do
Unspeakable actions amongst the very least of you:
Which is to say, roughest hands of weakest minds instill
Anguished attacks against children raped, murdered,
molested, killed.
