Unite Are We To? Poem by Ella Goodman

Unite Are We To?

I may be an optional story,
I may be a complete misfit and disaster in your life,
I may not be a loved one,
Who can bring smiles to your eyes.
I see so much deep pain behind those dark eyes,
Your lips they can't whisper what's in your mind.

Even in your silence I can sense your signs,
You may not hold me with comfort in your arms,
You may not tell what worries surround.
I may never know your dreams and earnest desires,
I may never see you again in this life,
However so, your memories will ever survive.

You may never miss me, my sight or my sound,
You may never wish me to be around.
You may never want me to call for your care,
You may even walk by unaware of my air.
You may never think of me and my being,
I know I am not the one who joy to you bring.

Your vision and mine may be so world apart,
Your wisdom I doubt not to inhibit my heart,
You have your reasons, your worries and cares,
You have your vision to journey this earth.
Your story and mine are not meant to entwine,
Like earth and the sky that can never unite.
