Unrequited Forever More Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

Unrequited Forever More

I’m overwhelmed
A million words
I want to say to you
A rushing river inside
The pain I fight to ignore
Pressure builds up
I can hardly take it anymore
I’m afraid you’ll go away
I love you, this I can’t deny
Your smile makes me cry
For I know it’s not for me
I try to shove it away
But you keep coming back
Each time stronger than before
I’m trapped in your eyes
I can’t pull away from you
Agony in my smile
Shining through the tears
I’m a beggar in your streets
Looking for love in your words
Searching for something
That will never be there
I’m resigned to my fate
I’ll always live in a shadow
Unrequited forevermore
