Until Another Life Poem by Ella Goodman

Until Another Life

Its time that I silently walk away,
Though heavy at heart still turn away,
Distance— it matters not so much,
Even though I desperately crave your touch.
But for you, I am just another girl,
Like the ones who await your call.

‘Its not possible', so you always say,
When I ask ‘Why not? ',
‘You know why', the answer comes my way.
To be frank, the answer has never been clear to me,
You came so many a times though to clarify that to me.
Yet each time, time flew so fast—
An honest conversation between us didn't last.

At times I've been angry with you before,
Tried so hard to turn away in lasting goodbyes.
Your thoughts yet lingered, and my heart yearned too bad;
In agony and pain, I hence turned back.
You've been too kind to me sometimes,
Cold and distant though most other times.

I yearned for your soul to read my mind,
Communicate free, feel at ease, not hide.
I failed to earn your trust and care—
My emotions you fear; you warn me thus.
Yes, I did hope for your presence in my life,
In a nameless bond, if that would suffice,
Yet such notion makes you uncomfortable with me,
So it's best I leave— to set you all free.

Perhaps I will not erase your thoughts;
Moments with you were true, not spurious.
Don't worry— I am not waiting for you to be with me;
That's not the reason you see me free.
I'm a soul not so easy to gel with all,
To bind and bond just in a random call.
To part with you is not a curse nor fall—
A new beginning, perhaps, with lessons learned.

All was true, trust if you may;
There were reasons sure why our paths crossed this way—
So many times over the years.
You have helped me shape— to let go, not fear,
I have loved you with all my heart,
A love I never felt for none,
But it's not a weakness or hindrance anymore,
I am more at peace to let this feeling now go.
I am to never return to love you back,
Call or text you at morn or dark.

If fate was to have our story this way,
Who are we to tweak or change its say?
Maybe in some other life,
We will meet again —to talk and together thrive.
In this life, perhaps, it's the end;
Our chapter is now to close,
Walk our paths on our own.
I am all smiles— no tears, no fears as I send you this write;
Cheer up so, and say goodbye!
