Rating: 2.9

I was informed by you
that you’d be home at normal time,
and that she’d be taking you.
I wasn’t worried about your one day hospital stay.
In at breakfast,
home for dinner.
Some minor surgery now
to prevent something major later.
Kept you in mind all day
and anxious to call you at dinnertime.
I called when I got home,
but got no answer.
Your answering machine told me that you weren’t home.
Why not?
You said you would be.
Half hour later, I tried again
and got that tape again.
“Please pick up.”, I requested,
but only got cut off when the tape ran out.
History repeated itself
half hour after that.
I showered, dressed, packed an overnight bag,
and called you twice more with no luck.
I worry easily, you know,
especially when it comes to you.
Why are you making my gray hairs more abundant?
Ok, I’ve had it.
You don’t answer your phone
and I need to know about you right now.
Like it or not,
I’m coming over.
Can’t sit here all night
and wait for you to decide to answer the phone or call me.
Hopefully, my new gray hairs were uncalled for,
but I won’t know till I see you for myself.
