(untitled #35) Poem by bob barci

(untitled #35)

Rating: 2.7

Stalling for time,
he takes a long leisurely shower.
He feels something is missing
as he dries off.
He realizes that
what he needs is some background music.
Still wet,
he quickly enters his room
and puts on an old Melanie album.
He continues to dry off
pretending that he is the voice singing.
Before getting dressed again,
he feels the need to make phone calls
and clean off the top of his desk.
He lies down on his bed
and closes his eyes as he
listens to another old Melanie album.
Unintentionally, he dozes off
but wakes up in time to turn the vinyl record over.
There are so many things
that he wants to do before he goes out.
Eventually, he acknowledges the fact
that he can’t stall for time any longer.
He has to get out
and spend some time
at the laundromat.
