Untitled Poem by Michael Poston

Untitled

How do you replace something you liked broken?
when you love someone so deeply for their faults.
No one else could understand
but understanding is only of the heart.

You always said you wouldn't be there forever,
i knew that but never believed it.
I only hope i met expectations,
especially in your final hour.

Nobody could say they thought wrongly of him,
his energy flew through his dying smiles.
It is always said that it will hit you one day,
but it hasn't yet and i don't think it ever will.

I was there but I couldn't gaze at what once was
How should i feel, happy, sad?
The only thing i felt when he was finally closed from the world
was what the world once had.
