(untitled #9) Poem by bob barci

Rating: 3.1

When silence has my tongue
I look for ways to speak.
When love has forgotten my heart
I look for things to hold.
When my eyes fail to see
I use my hands to touch.
When in time you've forgotten my name
I give a gentle reminder.
These things I do without question.
No explaining why -
they just get done.
I have some control of my body's movements,
some control of the thought process.
When I perceive something differently than you,
it's what makes us human.
When I react in a manner strange to you,
it keeps things interesting.
There are no set rules
on how things should get done -
just assumptions.
Play by your own rules, I always say.
Rules can always be broken
and repaired to fit the situation.
If I need you,
be there with understanding.
No lectures or disgust
because I do things differently.
My rules differ from yours.
Help my silence disappear.
Put some love in my heart
so my eyes can see.
