Vacation Poem by William B. Deutscher

Vacation

As one door closes,
another one closes now.
In due time
they all close
anyhow.
We miss the boat
as I wave to you,
and we're nowhere at all
with nothing to do.
You ask me politely
for a spot of day,
but my answer
gets lost
along the way.
Tinkle your chimes
in the passing breeze
and shake me awake
like a tropical tease.
