Vampires Poem by James Gibbons

Vampires

There are a lot of vampires about,
they all want to suck my blood.
I suppose I should be grateful
because it is so unanimous.
A long time back since kindergarten
when I wasn't chosen.
Maybe I'm not getting enough sleep,
all I really wanted to do was rest.
I'm sorry sad to hear she died,
think that's what her unmoving eyes said.
Asked her too late, now we'll never know.
Need a place to hang my head,
even the Judge said she was sorry.
I'm sure you're not one of them,
see them every day. There's no shame in trying, or dying, we do it every day.
But I didn't know her that well,
lived in her house all my life.
Omg, I wish I could've cried,
the good news is she's at peace.
Least ways I think she is,
thank everyone for their help.
Kiss her, kiss her while you still have a chance.
So you've been saved says the messenger,
but you're still a long way from home.
You need to see beyond tomorrow;
useless as today's pile of spent money.
What we have always known is true for some!
How would you like to meet your smiling face;
such an opportunity to re-connect, to be new.
The courage of many is your gift,
your gift from all who have drunk from the source.
Drunk with life, drunk from life, what's the difference?
Who can fly fire and not burn, not fall?
Who can understand why the waves swallow the sand?
Embrace it as you would embrace a lover,
your inner most needs cry for release.
The sweat masks your face, wringing wet,
hopple hopping all your unspecified needs.
Washed, tossed, flimsy flimsy.
Do you know why you were born?
Will you ever learn, you've been instructed,
shown the way. Thank you for your participation
understanding what had to be done.
