Vampyr's Kiss Poem by Alto Lee Thomas, Jr.

Vampyr's Kiss

"Shhhhhh …."

A distant fluttering of wings
Its whisper sets my heart to sing
Drawing nearer as I lay;
She comes again for me, I pray.

In visits past, as I recall,
I awakened, eyed through coal-red balls
Sly steely legs crept ‘round me bound
While beating wings cloaked sucking sounds

A frosted kiss belied her charms
That never came to cause me harm
Though crimson lips sheathed razored teeth
She came to succor; not for meat.

Bois liqueur douce et rouge gratuit
Enough to feed her starving needs.
A subtle clutch ‘twixt throbbing thigh…
By reflex mirrored in reply

She warmed and glowed, as I grew colder
Recast, to youth, as I grew older
Her needs made clearly understood
That human worth is gauged in blood,

At last, sweet slumber breached the night
As beating wings fade out of sight.
A fitting close, to visit's end,
I thirst to feel her kiss again.

"Shhhhhh …."
