Various Duties
'I was only doing my duty! '
A modest response
from some kind of hero?
Or a feeble excuse for an atrocity?
Was duty done out of love?
Fear of retribution?
A sense of obligation?
Mindless conformity?
Or the need to earn a living?
Doing one's duty means many things -
the motivation makes all the difference.
