Vinteren - Poem by Johannes Carsten Hauch

Titan af de blege Vover
Løfter lavt sit Hoved op,
Larven under Jorden sover,
Bladet sover i sin Knop.

Bølgen sænker sig og viger,
Slumrer ind bag Snee og Iis,
Uglen høit i Natten stiger,
Skriger paa sin vante Viis.

Vinden larmer ovenover,
Vække vil den bundne Sø,
Dobbelt dybt kun Larven sover,
Isen blinker under Ø.

Frøen sunken er i Dvale,
Hviler i sin Seng bag Siv,
Stormens Røst og vilde Tale
Vækker ei det bundne Liv.
