Vocabulary - Poem by Kelly Kurt

Consciousness is captive
Permanently pent parietally
Words are the principal source
In trying to communicate
Do justice to the thoughts
That they dare embody
Vocabulary is the extent
Of this subjective reality

True. My belief tho, is that no word or combination, can perfectly describe a thought and everything that goes with producing it. But expanding one's vocabulary can help to come closer (Report) Reply

Verily, we should use the right vocabulary to convey the right thoughts (Report) Reply

A take off on Wittgenstein is a thing I am scared to touch upon. I have read him. No claims I understood him although the stuff he dealt with included ancient Indian wisdom. But to see consciousness as captive is the last thing I would like to do as a Vedanta enthusiast. Your poem demands deep pondering, Sir. Thanks for sharing. (Report) Reply

I glean what I want from many philosophers and although I don't discard the rest, I take it for the convention it bespeaks of their particular times. The captive consciousness speaks of our individual, subjective self, being housed in the body we inhabit and only symbolically can we communicate, i.e. language, actions.
