Vocabulary
As for poetry: I absented fine speech--
ordinary vocabulary was my metier:
plainspeech was what I called it.
No antique words, no "thee" or "thou"--
I wanted to communicate,
and with as many people as possible! .
I always admired Chaucer--
he could tell a good dirty story!
But Shakespeare's poetry leaves me cold.
