Waiting On Daddy Poem by Hope Wallin

Waiting On Daddy

Daddy gives me a hug,
And I grip his collar tightly,
With my tiny and trembling fingers.
Maybe if I hold on tight enough,
Daddy won't go away again,
Like before.
But I'm not strong enough,
To hold him here,
And he leaves me behind again,
With only my mommy.
He's been gone before,
More than once,
Every time longer than the last.
This time,
He won't come back,
He'll find some place,
Better than here with me,
And mommy.
I'll stay here with her,
Both of us just
Waiting on Daddy.
