Waking Up Poem by Alexander Downie

Waking Up

Twenty chances to says stop
To say I will help make you whole again
To remember 32 years of love
To forgive, yourself and me

I drifted off not wanting ever to wake
You did nothing, not caring or believing
Leaving me to pass alone without love or closure
Sorry, I did not want to wake up
