Walking On The Dark Side Poem by Mary Champion

Walking On The Dark Side

The time capsule of my life
ran parallel to yours,
but you were open to the world,
while I - fearing ostracism -
was merely a sombre silhouette,
contrasting with your bright spirit.
At sunset
we strolled side by side along the abandoned pier -
you marvelled at the iridescent sky,
I thought only of the dark night to come.
