Walking Out Of The Darkness Poem by Angela Wimberly

Walking Out Of The Darkness

Rating: 5.0

It's dark in here...
I gotta keep walking because up ahead I see a light.
I'm so tired, I'm beat and defeated but I can't stay here,
"Get up" a voice in my head says...
I reach down within myself and get back onto my feet
One step in front of the other
I make my way back
I was lost and didn't know my way
but I had to move and not sit there Lost and shook...
The more I walked the more it looked like I was standing still
but I kept going
through the pain, exhaustion, and all the obstacles
I was tired of the darkness
I wanted to see some light
I walked
and walked
and walked
and then, I heard some birds chirping
and then I saw the light...
It was so beautiful
I had forgotten what it looked and felt like
I felt the warmth of the light and it felt good
The grass was green, the trees were in bloom,
Spring was in the air and I felt renewed
It was hard and I felt like giving up, but I'm so glad....
I walked out of the darkness and into the light...
