Wallflower Poem by Courtney Wills

Wallflower

She sighs
blinking slowly
and then melts
back into the wall
letting the cool tiles
submerge her into an ocean
of invisibility
like a chameleon.
She is not seen
with her eyes on the
ground and hair in her face
unseen by critical eyes
and expecting faces
blissfully unaware
of them.
At peace.
Her beautiful oasis.
At last,
she must reamerge
timidly
and quietly
into reality.
