Walmart Workout. Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Walmart Workout.

The big blue store, my Everest climb,
My woman leads, one step at a time.
Shelf after shelf, a dizzying maze,
I trail behind, in a shopping daze.

The cart, a beast, so heavy and wide,
My back and legs, nowhere to hide.
Time stretches on, a shopper's quest,
Her energy burns, put to the test.

The isles blur by, a colorful streak,
Each purchase adds to the cart's creak.
At last, content, the mission complete,
Toward the checkout, with shuffling feet.

The dollars vanish, a painful sting,
While visions of unloading, home, take wing.
A gym, perhaps? A simpler plea,
Less strain, less cost, and maybe free!

But empty shelves? A hungry void?
Perhaps this life, should be enjoyed.
The Walmart workout, day after day,
My woman's shopping, lights the way.
