Water And Wine Poem by Eric Paeplow

Water And Wine

Staring out my window, watching the world go by
Standing at the water's edge, as my dreams float by
Time to start stepping, into the ocean's arms, open wide
Casting my eyes towards the sky, the sun now rising high

So ply me with water and wine and see just how far I go
To the ends of the earth and beyond, I've already gone
I've seen the wonders of this world, you can see them too, you can
Just climb aboard with me, our journey has just began

Though we can't stop the passing of time, nor passing of days
The ends of the earth don't seem nearly so far away
A world apart and oceans away, and the clouds within our heads,
Hiding the stars and the path that leads us home, once again

Our lives seemed black and white, we didn't know wrong from right
So we kept going around, chasing that last star's fading light
And though we can't change our past, we will be just fine
With another glass of water, another glass of wine

Though we've all seen our share of ups and downs,
Sometimes we all lose hope, as if God, we no longer know
And though our futures uncertain and the words no longer come,
We will find our way back, to all that we've ever known

No longer able to make out the words, but the melody, still so sweet
Floating on the breeze, from bright colored birds, soaring high above
Singing songs we've always known, calling us all back home
The shore in sight, our journey ends, only to pack up and head out once again
