Waterbird Poem by Sanjib Saha

Waterbird

Waterbird

I dove like a waterbird, deep into the ocean's dark,
Flapping my wings, stirring the depths within.
I thought, I'd find love and joy,
Swimming, swimming, till I reached the horizon's edge.

Your lips quivered, sipping the ocean's blue,
Can I survive in a confined pool, I wonder?
Don't trust the bird with dreamy eyes,
And an open sky ahead, it will flap its wings, morning till dusk.

When the lotus petals fall,
Black mud remains,
The bird sings, flying away,
Leaving the sky's melody.
